This service provides school districts with information on federal- and state-level changes to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

This service consists of a series of professional development sessions aligned with the PDE 426/427, designed to supplement district teacher induction plans.

This service provides information related to new legislation, such as Act 1, to School Board members, superintendents, and business managers.

Instruction Conducted in the Home - Special Education
This service provides learning experiences in the home for children who have disabilities so severe that they are unable to attend a school-based program. The purpose is to enable the student to maintain skills in the areas of communication, self-help and cognition.

Instructional Coaching
This service provides modeling of instruction with students using K-12 literacy approaches and interventions (reading and writing) to assist educators with fidelity of implementation and effective instructional practices.

Instructional Materials Services
This service provides a collection of media for instructional use with students, including a wide variety of subject areas and instructional levels, shared between all districts in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties.

Instructional Technology - Consultation/Technical Assistance
IU 13 provides email and telephone support to district staff for instructional software programs, web-based learning tools, course and content management systems, and other educational tools.

Instructional Technology - Customized, Site-Based Professional Development
When requested by districts, IU 13 works collaboratively to develop goals and objectives for technology integration workshops. IU 13 also designs and conducts hands-on workshops for staff at school district sites.

Instructional Technology - Product/Tool Development
IU 13 works collaboratively with district and higher education/business partners to develop course content that is standards-based and aligned to the needs of the district, such as online courses and courses that can be delivered via videoconferencing.

Instructional Technology - Regional Leadership Team/Advisory Board
IU 13 coordinates the content management and development team for the Act 183 E-Fund grant. This team consists of representatives from the curriculum and technology areas of school districts, and collaboratively makes decisions on the instructional uses of technology in the school districts.

Instructional Technology - Regional Networking/Learning Community Structure
IU 13 conducts monthly meetings of district staff who are responsible for the integration of technology into curriculum. IU 13 also maintains a listserv and online community to support consistent and ongoing communication and collaboration.

Intensive Behavior Consultant Support
Intensive Behavior Consultants provide comprehensive, on-site consultation to address severe behavioral challenges demonstrated by an individual student or across an entire classroom.

International English Training (IET) Program
The International English Training Program is designed to help people learn to speak, read and write American English so they can be successful in an American college or university, increase business success, travel in the United States, or simply communicate. The program is committed to providing a supportive environment in which adults can learn the English language, experience American culture, and explore diversity on a global scale. IET also holds special classes for residents and visitors to the United States to meet their needs and interests, such as accent reduction classes and classes on local culture and history.

Itinerant Services are available in the following seven areas:
Itinerant Autistic Support
This service provides support to students with an autism spectrum disorder whose primary assignment is in a regular school with or without district special education services.

Itinerant Blind/Visually Impaired Support
This service provides direct instruction in compensatory skills and consultation in regular and special education settings that addresses strategies for accessing the curriculum, specialized materials, adaptive technology, and/or optical devices.

Itinerant Deaf/Hard of Hearing Support
This service provides direct instruction and consultation to enhance access to information by students who are deaf and hard of hearing attending a regular education classroom or a special education classroom. Monitoring assistive devices, increasing self-advocacy, and enhancing language development are addressed.

Itinerant Learning Support Services
These services provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities with an Individualized Education Plan attending a Lancaster County Career and Technology Center on a full-day basis.

Itinerant Occupational Therapy (OT) Support
This service provides assessment and treatment for students with delays in fine motor skills related to accessing the student’s educational environment. The program focuses on functional activities of daily living, evaluation for keyboarding, personal care and hygiene, handwriting and sensory motor issues.

Itinerant Physical Therapy Services
This service addresses a student’s ability to participate in school and access his/her environment in a safe and functional manner. The focus is on functional positioning, mobility, endurance, muscle strength, adaptive equipment and much more.

Itinerant Speech/Language Services
This service provides specialized instruction to children who exhibit significant delays in speech and/or language development. Speech/language therapists complete evaluations and consult with educators and parents about strategies and interventions for the child.

IU 13 Convention
The IU 13 Convention is an annual event held for all public school district board members in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. The event provides an opportunity for board members to network, discuss current educational topics, and tour a newly
constructed facility within Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. The event is only open to school district board members and public school administrators in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties.
