Safe Schools Focus Group brings together first responders and school district personnel in Lancaster and Lebanon counties to:
- Establish first responders and education partnerships
- Problem solve and share common goals
- Serve as a collaborative resource
- Engage in drills, practices, and trainings
- Keep abreast of the most current information from Emergency Management Agencies to share with home school district
- Engage in discussions of best practices and assist with building capacity in home schools/district and emergency responders
- Review All Hazard Plans together
- Establish MOU/MOA documentation (police and evacuation sites)
- Provide information to all school districts in IU 13 to ensure that districts are compliant with current and forthcoming state regulations and requirements
- Collaborate to apply for large grants
The Safe Schools Focus Group consists of a representatives from each of the Lancaster and Lebanon school districts, nonpublic schools, Lancaster and Lebanon Emergency Management Agency (LEMA), Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), South Central Task Force for Homeland Security, emergency responders, hospitals, and health agencies from Lancaster and Lebanon counties.
