Serving Educators and Administrators

Serving Educators

IU 13 provides service, support, and solutions to thousands of teachers in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. In keeping with state regulations, teachers can participate in IU 13 comprehensive staff development offered throughout the year. Many solutions are available for teachers to earn the 180 continuing education hours required by Act 48 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Professional development services can be designed on an individual, school, district or regional basis. Aligned to the Pennsylvania Academic Standards, IU 13 service to educators is designed to equip teachers with the skills to raise student achievement and prepare learners to be productive citizens in the global community.

Serving Administrators

Similar to the work with teachers, IU 13 is committed to providing comprehensive professional development opportunities for school leaders. Each opportunity is aligned to the Pennsylvania School Leadership core and corollary standards. IU 13 regularly seeks approval of programs qualified to award Act 45 credit to school and system leaders. In addition, IU 13 staff can assist school district leaders in writing and/or sponsoring Invitations to Qualify (ITQ) for school, district, or regional Act 45 program approval. Contact IU 13’s Instructional Services department at (717) 606-1746 to discuss approved Act 45 programs or to design a custom program for your school leaders.

In addition to state recognized programs, IU 13 provides an array of other learning and networking opportunities for school leaders including regional job-alike meetings, legal and legislative updates, school-study opportunities, and access to cutting-edge local, state, and national education conferences, speakers, and best practices. IU 13 can assist school leaders in the design and delivery of administrator retreats, book studies, school board retreats, and more.
