17th Annual Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13 Education Conference (2010)
Schools Today: Maximizing Resources, Mapping the Future
Tuesday, June 22, 2010 - 8:30 AM-3:30 PM
Lampeter-Strasburg High School (1600 Book Road, Lampeter, PA)
Educating all students to be productive 21st century citizens in the new global society remains at the core of schools today. In order to map their future and meet the unique needs of each and every student, it is imperative that schools implement a system based on research and good practice. Student achievement rests on the successful implementation of clear academic standards, fair assessments, an aligned curriculum framework, focused instruction, and comprehensive interventions.
The roadmap for student success depends on our educational system’s ability to maximize existing resources. The sessions offered at this year’s conference provided participants with information and practical strategies for advancing student achievement.
IU 13 is devoted to providing innovative approaches for maximizing your current resources and assisting in the development of future student success.
Conference Highlights
Mr. Bob Danzig, this year’s keynote speaker, presented on “Your Power to Embrace the Next.” Mr. Danzig’s story as a child raised in the foster care system who later became the senior corporate executive of the Hearst Newspaper Group, is truly inspirational.

Featured presenters included: Dr. Dennis Denenberg, “Hooray for Heroes!,” Dr. Corinne Eisenhart, “Language Development,” Ms. Linda Farrell, “Vocabulary Instruction,” and Ms. Cindy Schneider, “Social Success.” Additional sessions included: “Supporting the Social Communication Needs of Learners with Autism,” “Behavior Strategies,” “Math Strategies,” “Web Tools,” “Safer, Saner Schools,” “Adolescent Depression,” “Child Welfare,” “Bridging the Transition Gap,” and many more.
Throughout the day, a large array of articles and resources relevant to the conference topics were available for participants to take home. A continental breakfast and lunch was provided for all attendees.
