Federal Programs

Title IIA, IID, V, and Safe and Drug-Free

Title IIA, IID, V, and Safe and Drug-Free federal grants are designed to assist nonpublic schools in facilitating the educational growth of their students. IU 13 works closely with area nonpublic schools to ensure that their students receive the maximum allowable benefits of these funding streams.

Purpose:

Title IIA supports sustained and high-quality professional staff development opportunities for teachers and principals, focused on achieving high performance standards in core subject areas.

Title IID focuses on the implementation of statewide technology plans that are designed to integrate technology fully into the school curriculum so that students become literate in reading, math, science, and other core academic subjects essential for success in the 21st century.

Title V has replaced the Title VI grant from previous years and is expanded to include a larger number of activities for improving student achievement and learning in specific areas identified by school staff.

Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act supports youth drug and violence prevention. Funds may be used for items such as:

  • Bullying prevention programs
  • Peer mediation and peer leadership programs
  • Student assistance programs
  • Classroom management programs
  • Staff and parent training programs
  • Peace building programs
  • Programs that prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs
