It is the vision of the Lebanon Early Childhood Partnership to create a vibrant learning community where all young children and their families can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
To achieve this vision, IU 13 will:
- Provide a safe, appropriate and inclusive educational setting for ALL students.
- Provide ongoing support for the health and welfare needs of children and their families.
- Provide support for parents as their child’s first teacher.
- Provide evidence-based instruction and academic rigor that leads to school success.
- Maintain high expectations for all children and adults.
- Maintain high professional standards for all staff members and volunteers.
- Communicate honestly, respectfully and frequently with family members, colleagues, students and community members.
Lebanon Head Start
Lebanon County Head Start is a comprehensive preschool program for three and four-year-old children and their families. It is designed to strengthen and encourage early literacy, social development, resourcefulness, and self-sufficiency by providing positive learning experiences. In Lebanon County, IU 13 partners with its six school districts to provide young children with the early literacy skills they need to succeed. The program is free to eligible families.
Lebanon Pre-K Counts
Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, is bringing quality pre-kindergarten to 11,800 three- and four-year-old children in Pennsylvania.
PA Pre-K Counts is designed for children who:
- Are between age 3 and the entry age for kindergarten, and
- Are at risk of school failure because of income, limited English, or special needs.
Lebanon Family Literacy
The Lebanon Family Literacy Program is a four-component program providing adult basic education services, early childhood education, parent support, and interactive literacy activities. Each day, parents and children come to school together. While the children receive Head Start or Pre-K Counts services, the parents participate in GED instruction, English as a second language, or basic skills remediation. Time is devoted to talking about issues of concern to parents, and interactive learning activities are planned to engage both parents and children in strengthening the child’s early literacy skills
