Occupational Therapy provides assessment and treatment for delays in fine motor skills related to a student’s educational environment. The focus is on the functional activities of daily living, evaluation for keyboarding, personal care and hygiene, handwriting and sensory motor issues.
Physical Therapy addresses a student's ability to participate in school and access his/her environment in a safe and functional manner. The focus is on functional positioning, mobility, endurance, muscle strength, and adaptive equipment.
Physical Support Programs
The Physical Support Programs at IU 13 serve students with orthopedic impairments, or other health impairments, who may be medically fragile and need extensive training in assistive devices. Classes stress academic instruction, daily living skills and communication.
Adapted Physical Education
IU 13 offers Adapted Physical Education programs to district-operated classes, as well as IU 13-operated classes for students in need of specialized physical education services.
Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy Equipment Lending Library
IU 13 loans OT/PT equipment to districts who use OT/PT services through IU 13. Equipment may also be loaned to non-IU 13 customers on a contractual basis.
