What Former IET Students Say ...

Emily Tao
studentWhat I learned during the 5 months in IET program is hard to describe fully in just a few sentences. The teachers are all dedicated to teach us not just English grammar but also American culture. By discussing various topics such as news and social events, we learned how to express our thoughts more precisely. There are different courses designed to meet different needs, from basic grammar and conversational practices to college-level TOEFL preparation class. They are all challenging enough but not overwhelming. Besides the academic aspect, the people in the program are what I love the most. We meet people from all over the world, become friends and learn to appreciate different cultures. The teachers are also friends with the students. Even though I am no longer with the program, they are still willing to help me with English. To me, the IET program was a nice place to start with when I first arriving America; it was a great place where I can learn English while adjusting to a new life. I value the experiences I had with IET program and highly recommend it to people who wish to learn more than just English.

Emily is from Taiwan and studied with IET in 2006. She is now studying at Pennsylvania State University.

Tachmurad Jumayev
studentIt was very important for me to choose the right school. I was glad to study in IET and appreciate its entire kind staff. Here I got courses like Language and Culture, where I explored American culture from early 19th century to modern times. I also enriched my vocabulary. The Listening and Speaking course involved more practice of English with ingredients of daily life. I especially enjoyed TOEFL classes, where I learned to write correct English and about academic writing. The friendly approach of the instructors made me learn more quickly than I expected. I could quickly become friends with other international students, as IET has a warm and friendly environment. In addition, I should mention about the lovely place where IET is located. Lancaster City itself is a very beautiful place to experience real “American life.”

Tachmurad studied with IET in 2006. He is originally from Turkmenistan.

Anca Muresan
studentBeing part of this program for one year (2005-2006) helped my English improve a lot in different ways. One thing that was helpful for me - and I think for all the students - was the way the classes are set. We had three classes a day where we were able to write, speak, listen and read. Another thing I appreciated was being able to interact with the teachers. Since we were a smaller class, being able to ask questions made a difference. The teachers were great and always willing to help. Because of this, I was able to learn English much faster. Moreover, the activities they have for the students are great. I remember all the field trips we had. It was so much fun. We learned a lot about this country. A year at IET equipped me to be able to go to another school, where I could speak and understand English, and I don’t have to use my dictionary during classes. My last thought for students who want to study in the USA is that IET is a good way to start. Your English will improve, and you will get a taste of how schools in the USA are.

Anca is originally from Romania and is currently studying in Texas.
