Brain Power: How to Create Classrooms That Maximize Learning

Description: During this highly interactive presentation, participants will discover how to take what we know about how the brain learns and use it to plan instruction that will maximize student learning. Dr. Estes is a well-known speaker in the area of brain research and will demonstrate how this knowledge can directly impact what teachers do in the classroom. Topics to be covered include:

  • the fundamentals of how the brain processes information and how learning affects the brain,
  • the process of memory and the "hooks" for gaining attention,
  • the importance of making connections and using a variety of strategies in our teaching, and
  • how to create experiences that optimize learning in our classrooms.
