We believe change is integral to the effective leadership and development of our organization. |
Gifted WorkshopsEvery year there are several "special" gifted education events offered by IU 13. This includes workshops and conferences focusing solely on gifted education and are professional development events. All educators are invited to participate. These are NOT Gifted Network Meetings. IU 13 invites speakers from all over the state to present on "hot" topics facing all educators of the gifted, including parents, teachers, administrators, and guidance counselors. During February of 2004, IU 13 hosted a Gifted Education mini-conference. It was sponsored by Project REAL of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. We invited several speakers from all over the state, including Linda Deal, Mary Ann Swiatek, Richard Miller, Jacqueline Dandridge, Janet Dubble, and Terri Mastrobuono, with an introduction on the Gifted Guidelines, by Barbara Thrush. The variety of topics ranged anywhere from "Gifted Education and the Minority Students" to "Acceleration" and "Combating Boredom in the Classroom."
