Safe Schools and Positive Behavior Supports
All Hazards Plans
IU 13 provides training and support for our districts in the areas of All Hazards Plans. This support includes training with experts in the field, opportunities to network and share what is happening in our districts, and building partnerships with local and state resources such as the emergency management agencies. Our comprehensive All Hazards Plan addresses the areas of mitigation and prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery, so that our schools can be safe and healthy environments for our students and staff members.

PA Comprehensive System of Behavior Support
Effective Behavior Supports
When a child is struggling to control his or her behavior in the classroom, it can be a difficult time for the student as well as for the school staff that interacts with him or her. Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13’s system of effective behavior support provides local school districts with the services needed to work successfully with students who may be having behavioral issues in school. Through consultation; training in the areas of school-wide behavior supports, classroom management and behavior assessment; and assistance in the development of individualized interventions, the IU 13 Training and Consultation System (TaCS) consultants help schools and teachers to better understand and meet the needs of their students. An emphasis is placed on positive behavior support by determining the function of problem behavior and by helping students develop alternative skills to participate more successfully in the school setting. The IU 13 TaCS consultants are available to assist school teams through advertised or on-site trainings, classroom or student observations, and participation in team meetings. School districts may request for services by contacting the Special Education Services Department of IU 13.
