‘Art with Heart’ Charity Event for Refugees in Lancaster

This Saturday, March 5th, the Refugee Center and Community School at Reynolds will be hosting the “Art with Heart” Arts and Crafts Fair at Reynolds Middle School, 605 W. Walnut Street, from 11am to 5pm.

The event will begin at 11am with various vendors and artists from the Lancaster community selling artwork and hand-crafted goods, including Arielle Kidhardt of Kidhardt Creations, Derrick Laurion of Junk Drawer Collective, photographer Paul Jamrogowicz, artist Erin K. Dunn, and others.

From 3pm-5pm, items donated by participating vendors and additional area artists will be auctioned live for the public. Pennsylvania-based artist Tom Whalen has donated several pieces that will be up for auction, as well as local artists Jenny Germann, Nancy Long, and others. Anyone interested in bidding on auction items should plan to arrive before 3pm to receive a number.

Food and drinks will be available during the event, including Turkey Hill beverages, barbeque provided by Q A’More BBQ (owned by Rob Fisher), soup provided by Splits and Giggles (owner Dave Brown), and assorted goodies from the baker’s lover, (owned by Rachel Ruark).

This event is to raise funds for projects and services for refugees in Lancaster. The Refugee Center and Community School offers services that help local refugees thrive as a part of the community. English classes for adults, backpacks and uniforms for students, and translation and interpretation services for important school and health issues are just some of the ways the Refugee Center and Community School provides vital and necessary assistance to refugees in the Lancaster area.

Information about the artists participating in the event can be found on Facebook, and links to the event’s social media pages are available on the IU13 and School District of Lancaster websites.
