01/19/2015

STEAM Leaders MeetingLancaster, PA: Community thought leaders from business and industry, nonprofits, school districts, and higher education institutions gathered at IU13 to develop a unified vision for STEAM education in Lancaster County. (STEAM=Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Increasingly, employers are looking for workers with proficiency in these areas and local school districts are eager to meet this demand through high-quality STEAM education programs.

IU13 received funding from the Steinman Foundation and the Lancaster County Community Foundation to lead a STEAM education planning initiative. The work of the community thought leaders is an important step in the planning process. While the initiative is just getting off of the ground, the project has the potential to increase the economic prosperity of Lancaster and Lebanon counties by producing STEAM-proficient students who leave the local high schools college and career ready.
