Kautz Awarded Elinor Long Teacher of the Year

Jan Kautz, IU13 Teacher of Visually and Sensory Impaired (with the Early Childhood and Special Education Services department at IU13), was awarded the 2018 Elinor Long Teacher of the Year (ELEY) by the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired She received the award at the PennDel AER banquet on Thursday, April 26th. This award is presented annually to a professional educator, administrator, university faculty, or medical personnel from Pennsylvania or Delaware to honor their outstanding work and contribution to their field.

Jan has been working as a teacher for 39 years and plans to retire at the end of the school year.  She is recognized for her incredible influence as a teacher and for her dedication to her craft. She takes great pride in her work and is appreciative of the staff and administration’s support. Upon retiring, Jan plans to spend time with her family, most notably her grandsons and parents in Western PA.
