Susan Finn Miller is Named Outstanding Adult Educator of the Year


Susan Finn Miller, IU13 Adult Education Instructor, received the Outstanding Adult Educator Award by the Pennsylvania Association of Adult Continuing Education (PAACE). This prestigious, statewide award is given to an an educator who develops new ideas, implements initiatives or sets higher standards through their leadership and contributions to our field - one who is dedicated to the advancement of adult education.

On Monday, March 5th, IU13 had the honor of presenting this award to Susan Finn Miller. Susan has over 25 years of history teaching adults through courses such as English as a Second Language, Family Literacy, citizenship, adult basic education, GED prep, and more. She is truly dedicated to the advancement of adult education and most deserving of this award.

Susan joined IU13 in 1991 as an adult educator.  She has a Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Culture from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Since 2009, she's served as a Professional Development Specialist for ELL-U, a national professional development network for adult ESL teachers. She is also a regular presenter at PAACE and COABE conferences. Her work in adult education is highly regarded.

PAACE, is a nonprofit organization which is dedicated to promoting adult education through the support of providers and practitioners.

COABE, (the Coalition on Adult Basic Education) is organized to advance national and international adult education and literacy opportunities for all persons.
