Student Store Serves as Learning Environment

Thursday, November 13th marked the grand opening of the Transitions Works Café student-operated store in Lebanon. Click here for photos. The store, which will be operated by students in the School-to-Work and Job Training programs, will serve light breakfast and lunch entrees. Students will learn to engage customers, take orders, basic food prep and food handling, make change, etc. The goal is to provide them with a safe learning environment, where they can showcase the work and personal skills learned through the School-to-Work and Job Training Services programs at IU13.
A similar store, called The Learning Café, was opened in Lancaster County last month. Congratulations to all of the students and staff who participated in making this event possible, and thank you to the Lancaster-Lebanon Education Foundation for providing a $2,000 donation to support the launch of the stores.
