IU13 Outlook May 2016 Issue
Celebrating a “Win-Win” Opportunity for Teens, Businesses, and Our Community
Excitement, valuable work experience, and pride were among the many “takeaways” students shared as they – along with local employers and educators – recently celebrated their successes in the IU13 Job Training Services Program. Two Partnership Appreciation Luncheons in April gathered a total of 420 attendees including 60+ graduating seniors, family members, teachers, job trainers, and business partners to share experiences and honor accomplishments.
Empowering students to gain and maintain skills as they transition into adult life is what the IU13 Job Training Services Program is all about. Achieving this goal takes the proverbial village, but in this case, that village is more like a city as the vast list of business partners continues to grow – over 1,000 to date! Thank you to our many local business partners from Lancaster and Lebanon counties!
Students benefit as they transition to employment, and businesses benefit from a supervised, supported workforce – it’s a WIN-WIN opportunity! In addition to teaching critical employment skills and providing support to students and business partners alike, IU13 Job Training Services also offers the opportunity for students to be a part of a paid work crew. In fact, from July 2001 through December 2015, the IU13 Job Training Services Program has paid over $1 million to 4,634 students.
