School Supply Drive Helps Ensure Students Have Access to Essential Materials Throughout the Year

9/25/26: Lancaster, PA – Students across Lancaster County will benefit from a recent school supply drive organized by the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, which collected essential school supplies to support local students and families.

The donated materials will be distributed to Lancaster County school districts through Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU13), helping those 16 districts address ongoing student needs throughout the school year. While school supplies are often associated with the start of the academic year, districts frequently welcome new students and families throughout the year. These supplies will provide a readily available resource for students who enroll mid-year or face challenges accessing necessary classroom materials.

“Equipping students with the tools they need to succeed in school helps keeps them where they need to be: in class. Keeping our kids focused in school helps them build for their future, develop the positive relationships they need to succeed in life and ensures their safety. It’s a win for everyone,” stated Travis Anderson, Assistant District Attorney, Lancaster County DA Office.

IU13’s Early Childhood and Special Education Services (ECSES) team will sort the donated materials before making them available through the District Special Education Administrators’ network and the District Social Workers’ Cohort. School districts will then identify local needs and distribute supplies directly to students and families.

“Access to basic school supplies can make a meaningful difference for students and families at any point during the school year,” said Matthew Stem, Executive Director at Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13. “We are grateful to the District Attorney’s Office for coordinating the event and to the community for responding with donations. Whether a student is new to a district, experiencing a change in circumstances, or simply in need of additional materials, these donations will help schools respond quickly and ensure students have the tools they need to fully participate in learning.”

The effort reflects a commitment to supporting students and reducing barriers that can impact educational success. By making these supplies available throughout the year, local schools will be better equipped to meet emerging student needs and provide timely support to families.
