Literacy and ELD

“Literacy is the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, compute, and communicate using visual, audible, and digital materials across disciplines in any context” (International Literacy Association). The power of literacy lies not just in the ability to read and write, but rather in a person’s capacity to apply these skills to effectively connect, interpret, and discern the intricacies of the world in which they live.

The IU13 Literacy Team offers a variety of supports and services including professional learning opportunities, customized on-site assistance, professional learning communities, and instructional resources and materials that focus on assisting districts in increasing student learning in all areas of literacy.
