Safe2Say Something imageSafe2Say Something

Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late.

PA 211: Pennsylvania 211 is a free, confidential, non-emergency, comprehensive information and referral service that connects Pennsylvania residents with community resources, information, and referrals to the services they need.

Pennsylvania Department of Human Services: Assist Pennsylvanians in leading safe, healthy, and productive lives through equitable, trauma-informed, and outcome-focused services.

Lebanon County:

No Wrong Door Resource Guide: This resource guide was created to assist residents of Lebanon County, PA in accessing resources that are available. Resources described may have specific eligibility requirements and costs for services may be required.

National

Substance Abuse Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA): SAMHSA is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of individuals living with mental and substance use disorders, and their families.

SAMHSA leads public health and delivery efforts that promote mental health, prevent substance misuse, and provide treatment and supports to foster recovery while ensuring equitable access and better outcomes.

Pennsylvania Department of Education Office for Safe Schools: Works collaboratively with Pennsylvania school communities and stakeholders to advance efforts to develop and sustain equitable trauma-informed learning environments that promote and support the academic, physical and psychological safety and well-being of all students and staff.

Lancaster County:

Mental Health America Lancaster County: As the resource hub for mental health in Lancaster County, programs are available to help members of the community. Community members can access advocacy services, educational training opportunities, and support services/groups.

Touchstone Foundation: The mission is to elevate the mental well-being of youth in Lancaster County through a whole-person approach, caring, collaboration, advocacy, and visibility. Programs are available for:

  • parental mental wellness,
  • mental health access assistance, 
  • youth summit to educate about mental wellness,
  • mental health careers scholarship to pursue a career in the mental health field, and 
  • mental health clinical fellowship to support supervision hours to become licensed therapists/counselors serving youth in Lancaster County.

National

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: AFSP is a voluntary health organization that is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide, including those who have experienced a loss.

Statewide

Prevent Suicide PA: To support those who are affected by suicide, provide education, awareness, and understanding by collaborating with the community to prevent suicide, and reduce the stigma associated with suicide.

Suicide Prevention County Task Forces: Suicide Prevention Task Forces are groups of dedicated individuals that are committed to reducing the number of suicides and offering support to those who have been touched by suicide within their communities in Pennsylvania.

Prevention efforts consist of:

  • trainings/programs focused on suicide prevention and mental health
  • awareness events

Bullying Prevention

National

Common Sense Media: Work at every level to build a more healthy, equitable, and empowering future for all kids in the digital age. Families have access to reviews of movies, apps, and more to make choices for their children. 

Cyberbullying Research Center: Free, downloadable resources to equip parents as they help their children grow in the ability to stay safe and responsible online.

Making Caring Common: Providing support to parents, caregivers, and educators to raise children who care for others and for the common good.

PACER National Bullying Prevention Center: Provides resources for students, parents, educators, and others, and recognizes bullying as a serious community issue that impacts education

Stopbullying.gov: Provides information from various government agencies on what bullying is, what cyberbullying is, who is at risk, and how you can prevent and respond to bullying.

Statewide

Pennsylvania Department of Education Office for Safe Schools – Bullying Prevention Page: The Bullying Prevention page contains resources for parents, educators, and professionals serving children and youth in school and out-of-school settings.

Bullying Prevention Consultation Line 1-866-716-0424: The toll-free Bullying Prevention Consultation Line invites individuals experiencing chronic and unresolved bullying to discuss effective strategies and available resources to manage school-based bullying. Messages left on the Bullying Prevention Consultation Line will be returned during normal business hours Monday through Friday. This number is not monitored 24 hours a day/seven days a week, and should not be used for emergencies.

Center for Safe Schools: Bullying and peer abuse prevention resources are informed by more than 25 years of bullying prevention and practice.

Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs: Leads Pennsylvania’s work to prevent and reduce drug, alcohol, and gambling addiction and abuse; and to promote recovery.

Lancaster County

Compass Mark: Serves as a resource hub in Lancaster County to provide education, skill-building, and community mobilization to prevent addiction and empower all people toward healthy, fulfilling lives.

Grief and Loss

National

Coalition to Support Grieving Students: Videos and downloadable grief-support modules for conversation and support, developmental and cultural considerations, practical considerations, self-care, and crisis and special circumstances.

National Alliance for Children’s Grief: Provides a network for nationwide communication between professionals and volunteers who want to share ideas, information, and resources with each other to support grieving children and families in their communities.

Statewide

Highmark Caring Place: A safe place where grieving children and families can come together and be with others who understand what they are going through. Services are offered at no charge to grieving families. Services available: peer support groups, educational programs, consultation services, and presentations.

Lancaster County

Pathways Center for Grief and Loss: Supporting the needs of children, teens, and families impacted by serious illness and loss through individual and group grief support services. A resource library is available with a wide variety of grief and illness-related topics to borrow.

Lebanon County

WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospice: Focuses on providing support to a patient’s family by offering counseling, respite care, and bereavement support.
