Meet the Teaching & Learning Collaborative Team

IU13’s Teaching and Learning Collaborative Team is fueled by energetic educational leaders with content-area and role-specific expertise.  We partner with schools to provide the professional learning and consultative support needed to strengthen curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems and practices.

Dr. Lauren Beal

Associate Program Director of Educational Partnerships

Lauren has taught middle school and high school science in both urban and rural settings, served as a High School Assistant Principal, a consultant, Supervisor for Curriculum and Instruction, and most recently, Associate Director of Educational Partnerships at IU13. In her current position, she supports the connections between education, business and community partners to develop innovative instructional models that increase student learning and workforce readiness. Lauren holds a M.S. degree in Geology and Astronomy from West Chester University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Change from Drexel University. She serves as the Executive Director of the Lancaster County STEM Alliance, and regional director of the ENGINE of Central PA STEM Ecosystem.  Lauren is an avid runner, and enjoys the outdoors, reading, and spending time with family.

Dr. Jennifer Bean

School Improvement Specialist

Jen has the pleasure of working at IU13 as both a literacy consultant and in the area of School Improvement and literacy instruction. During her educational tenure, Jen has worked in various school-based positions. She has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels, and has served as a reading specialist, literacy coach, and district reading coordinator in both rural and suburban settings. Currently, she enjoys collaborating with teachers and literacy leaders while consulting on literacy topics. Jen has served on both the PA State English Learner Advisory Board and the PA Text Dependent Analysis Cadre of Experts. Jen holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Plattsburgh State University, a M.S. in Reading from Albany State University, and an Ed.D. in School Leadership from Immaculata University. She also holds Elementary, Reading Specialist, and Principal Certifications. In her free time, Jen enjoys spending time with her husband working on home projects and watching her daughter in her athletic adventures.

Brian Booker

Social Studies Consultant

As a Teaching and Learning Consultant for Social Studies at IU13, Brian brings years of experience as a middle school social studies teacher. His focus is on research-based strategies to increase student engagement, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity in the social studies classroom. He is passionate about how the intersections of the different social studies disciplines allow for students to have a better understanding of themselves, the past, and the world around them. One of Brian’s areas of focus is the integration of STEM concepts and skills into the social studies classroom as well as instructional coaching, gifted education, and supporting newly certified teachers in the field. Brian holds a B.S. in Social Studies Education from Elizabethtown College, a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Edinboro University and a M.Ed. in Instructional Media with a STEM endorsement from Wilkes University. In his free time, Brian enjoys exploring Lancaster and Lebanon counties with his family, cooking, reading, and music.

Curriculum & Instruction Specialist

As a Curriculum and Instructional Specialist, Kristina brings 16 years of experience as a high school mathematics teacher locally and central Virginia. She also has experience as an instructional coach. Kristina holds a B.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in Secondary Education from Shippensburg University, an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Virginia, and an Ed.S. in Curriculum & Instruction and Instructional Technology from the University of Virginia. She is currently working toward an Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Virginia. She is a National Board Certified Teacher (2012) and holds a K-12 Curriculum and Instruction Supervisory Certificate as well as a Mathematics Instructional Coach Endorsement. Kristina serves as a leader for the Susquehanna Valley chapter of the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics (PCTM), and Eastern 1 Region of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM). In her free time, Kristina enjoys spending time with her family, reading, running marathons, and crafting.

Instructional Services Program Liaison

Stephanie has provided excellent customer service and support to IU13 programs for over 15 years.  Stephanie Fyock currently serves as the Program Support Liaison for the Instructional Services Department at IU13. In this role she has helped plan large conferences, professional learning workshops, student competitions, student industry certification opportunities, and student microscholarship award programs. Prior to working in Instructional Services, she worked in the IU13 Business Office.  Stef truly enjoys supporting educators, students, and colleagues. In her free time, you can find her on local softball fields cheering for her daughter.

Kelly is fortunate to lead the extraordinary team of experts at IU13 who support educational professionals in various initiatives related  to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement.  Over the course of her 24-year career in public education, Kelly has served in progressive roles including high school English teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach, high school assistant principal, and IU13 supervisor of literacy. Kelly holds a B.A. in English Education from Ithaca College, a M.Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum from The Pennsylvania State University, an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University, K-12 Reading Specialist and Principal certifications, and a Superintendent Letter of Eligibility.  Kelly has also held various regional and state leadership roles related to PA Department of Education initiatives including literacy, educator effectiveness, and career readiness.  In her current role as Program Director, Kelly serves as a thought partner and leader in strengthening curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional learning systems.  Outside of work, Kelly is a dog lover and sports fan, and you might find her enjoying early morning walks or cheering at her high school daughter’s volleyball matches.

Keira London

Program Assistant

Keira currently serves as the Program Assistant for the Teaching and Learning Collaborative Team at IU13, where she collaborates with a team of experienced and knowledgeable educators. Prior to her tenure at IU13, Keira worked nine years of professional experience at Comcast (Xfinity), where she held the position of Workflow Coordinator within the Keystone Workforce Operations department. She formerly worked as a bank teller at BB&T (Truist) Bank later transitioning and pursuing her now 7-year career within the education field.

Keira’s professional and educational background includes roles such as an elementary school Building Assistant and Kindergarten Paraeducator. Keira has earned college credits from Harrisburg Community College and Consolidated School of Business. In her spare time, Keira enjoys traveling and devotes herself to supporting her three children, two boys and one girl, cheering them on from the sidelines during their basketball and cheerleading activities.

Dr. Gregory McGough

School Improvement Specialist

Gregory McGough, Ed.D., is a Certified School Improvement Specialist (CSIS) with the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13. In his current position, he draws on his district office experience in curriculum design, federal programs/grants, comprehensive planning, induction/professional development, PA Information Management (PIMs), and the superintendency. Prior to administration, Gregg spent 18 years serving students as a secondary English/literacy and alternative education teacher. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he was a national speaker on rigor, relevance, and relationships for the International Center for Leadership in Education. In his free time, Gregg enjoys collecting vintage board games and pleasure reading.

Literacy Consultant

Kathy brings an extensive background in developing, providing, and evaluating literacy instruction geared towards early readers as well as readers who struggle.  She has over 20 years experience in working in literacy through various roles in the school setting including classroom teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach, and learning facilitator.  Kathy holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood from Shippensburg University, a M.S. degree in Reading Specialization from McDaniel College, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University.  Kathy holds the position of Literacy Consultant with the IU within its Teaching and Learning Collaborative.  As a literacy consultant, Kathy’s special interest and focus in her position include researching as well as developing and providing training in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy.  Kathy, in her free time, enjoys creating soft sculpture Santas and decorating her home in such a way that her guests always feel welcomed and relaxed during their stay.

STEM Consultant

As a Teaching and Learning Consultant, Jason brings 11 years of classroom experience as an elementary educator emphasizing STEM and science education. His primary objective is to promote equal access to high-quality and meaningful science education for all students. His passion for STEM education is evident in his commitment to his deep understanding of STEM principles to facilitate engaging and hands-on learning experiences for educators that will ignite curiosity and inspire a love for scientific inquiry. Through his work as a STEM Consultant, Jason is dedicated to bridging the gap between industry and education, forging meaningful partnerships that provide students with real-world connections and authentic STEM experiences. 

Jason holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Lancaster Bible College and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University. He is working on his EdD in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University and Peabody College. He also serves as a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council for Environmental Education. In his free time, Jason enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, reading, and traveling.
