Professional Learning Opportunities

The purpose of the IU13 Literacy Collaborative is to give literacy leaders an opportunity to: * Stay informed of the most current information from the PDE and professional organizations, and share that information with colleagues in their school or district * Engage in collaborative professional learning for building their own capacity to lead * Serve as a resource for determining regional professional development needs * Network and engage in collegial dialogue with other "job alike" professionals

The purpose of the IU13 Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Leadership Collaborative Meetings is to give science, technology/engineering, and math leaders an opportunity to: * Stay informed of the most current information from the PDE and professional organizations, and share that information with colleagues in their school or district * Engage in collaborative professional learning for building their own capacity to lead * Serve as a resource for determining regional professional development needs * Network and engage in collegial dialogue with other "job alike" professionals

Participants will have the opportunity and time to explore a variety of Computer Science tools and equipment available in the IMS Lending Library, and interact with other educators to brainstorm hands-on classroom uses for integrating Computer Science and STEELS standards. This hands-on session will provide certification for the IMS Lending Materials which includes the StarLab portable planetariums, the AR/VR mobile device kits, and the TransfrVR headsets.

Join us for a FREE (for IU13 districts) 2-hour make-and-take workshop designed for school districts to delve into the foundations of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. The first hour will be an engaging, hands-on session where participants will go through the foundational concepts behind AI in education, explore practical applications, and create simple AI projects. This will be followed by a second hour dedicated to collaborative planning, where educators will receive the presented slide deck to make any district-specific changes in order to use as a presention to their faculty, ensuring they leave with actionable plans to educate about AI

These POC collaborative meetings are for Lancaster and Lebanon County library stakeholders, including AccessPA member libraries, for the purpose of providing pertinent information concerning technology tools, ethical and legal issues, and professional development opportunities. In addition, time will be devoted for new learning and exploration for the integration of IMS and other tools/strategies supporting all content area curricula.

Join us as we dive into the dynamic world of the 3-Dimensional Framework behind the STEELS standards. Discover how this researched approach revolutionizes science, tech & engineering, and environmental education by bringing the curriculum to life. This workshop offers valuable resources to help understand the new standards and how they lead to instructional shifts in the classroom. You'll leave with a clearer understanding of how the standards were developed and how to implement them within your grade level, course, and/or school. Lunch on your own

Ready to see MORE examples of phenomena-based learning in the classroom? This brand new workshop will go through additional strategies and examples of how to incorporate the STEELS standards into your classroom. Examples for elementary, middle, and high school will be shared. Be prepared to be immersed in the classroom examples and walk away with classroom ready strategies! Lunch on your own

Students learn more when expectations are clear. This Teacher Clarity 2-day professional learning workshop facilitated by Dr. John Almarode, Professor of Education in the College of Education at James Madison University and co-author of the Teacher Clarity Playbook, 2nd Edition, will unpack a process for designing instruction that invites students into the learning process. Working alongside peers, teachers will learn how to explicitly communicate to students what they will be learning on a given day, why they're learning it, and how to know if they were successful. The Teacher Clarity framework encourages a culture of assessment-capable visible learners who take ownership of their learning journey. And when learners have agency, student engagement and achievement soar. Additional Infomration All participants will receive a copy of the Teacher Clarity Playbook, 2nd Edition.
