Computational fluency is much more than basic facts and algorithms. It is complex and teaching it well is challenging. To find success, we must know and leverage 10 big ideas about fluency. In this interactive workshop, we'll explore practical strategies to help students build procedural fluency in meaningful ways. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, explore research-based instructional practices, and learn how to support all learners in developing confidence with numbers. Whether you're a teacher, coach, or leader, this session will equip you with actionable strategies to enhance fluency in your classroom or school. This workshop will be complemented with a collection of ready-to-use classroom resources. Core Outcomes: * Workshop participants will be able to articulate essential ideas about fluency in elementary and/or middle school mathematics, * identify effective teaching and assessment practices for computational fluency, and * demonstrate understanding significant strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and integers to teach, practice, and assess fluency. These half-day job-alike gatherings will be facilitated by IU13 and open to any staff invested in supporting the academic growth of gifted/advanced learners and complying with Chapter 16 regulations. A key component of each meeting will be time set aside for collaboration with grade-level, job-alike colleagues. District/school staff will also have the option to plan as a team during a portion of the meeting. Communication for the Gifted Network will primarily take place through Schoology, and anyone interested may join this Group for updates, resources, and discussions. The access code is FBGZM-ZHCMD. Registration will be required for each meeting for planning and Act 48 purposes. There is NO COST for IU13 district and nonpublic school staff to participate in network meetings.

This professional learning workshop, designed for IU13 non-public school educators, offers a comprehensive dive into two powerful digital resources: Discovery Education and BrainPop. From 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, participants will explore the vast, high-quality content, interactive tools, and customizable features of Discovery Education, learning practical strategies to integrate videos, virtual field trips, and instructional materials to create engaging multimedia lessons. Following a lunch break, the session will resume from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM focusing on BrainPop and BrainPop Jr. We will uncover how to effectively use its animated movies, quizzes, and related activities to simplify complex concepts across various subjects. Educators will be provided with time to explore each platform and leave with ideas that utilize both platforms to enrich classroom instruction.
