Professional Learning Opportunities

Feedback has the power to transform learning-but not all feedback is created equal. Drawing on the research of Hattie, Timperley, and Dylan Wiliam, this interactive workshop unpacks the impact of feedback on student learning, ranging from minimal to significant effect sizes (.14 to .92). Participants will explore different types of feedback-student-to-student, student-to-self, teacher-to-student, and student-to-teacher-analyzing what makes feedback truly effective. Through practical strategies and collaborative discussions, educators will discover opportunities to refine their feedback practices to drive deeper learning, engagement, and student ownership. This workshop helps educators enhance student-centered learning by exploring AI and current educational technologies. Participants will learn strategies to integrate AI into their teaching, design AI-enhanced activities, and discuss the opportunities and challenges of AI in education. Through interactive activities and group discussions, educators will effectively integrate technology into their teaching, fostering engagement and making informed decisions about AI in education.*Participants invited to attend by their district under an established contract are welcome to register at no additional cost (costs are already included in the established contract). For participants who want to attend a workshop outside of a previously established district contract, the cost is $169 for IU13 district participants and $199 for non-IU13 district participants.

This workshop will focus on collaborative student-centered learning approaches, including Project-Based Learning (PBL), Self-Organized Learning Environments (SOLE), and other PBL-type activities. By the end of this workshop, educators will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to create a more collaborative and dynamic learning environment that puts learners at the center of their educational journey.*Prerequisite: Collaboration: Practical Teamwork Strategies for SCL.*Participants invited to attend by their district under an established contract are welcome to register at no additional cost (costs are already included in the established contract). The purpose of the IU13 Literacy Collaborative is to give literacy leaders an opportunity to: * Stay informed of the most current information from the PDE and professional organizations, and share that information with colleagues in their school or district * Engage in collaborative professional learning for building their own capacity to lead * Serve as a resource for determining regional professional development needs * Network and engage in collegial dialogue with other "job alike" professionals

The purpose of the IU13 Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Leadership Collaborative Meetings is to give science, technology/engineering, and math leaders an opportunity to: * Stay informed of the most current information from the PDE and professional organizations, and share that information with colleagues in their school or district * Engage in collaborative professional learning for building their own capacity to lead * Serve as a resource for determining regional professional development needs * Network and engage in collegial dialogue with other "job alike" professionals

Discover how educators use Schoology in various ways to expand learning, while leveraging teaching, time, talent, resources, collaboration, knowledge, and much more in Pennsylvania. Participants will have an opportunity to explore beginner, intermediate, and advanced Schoology features and instructional practices. This conference is intended for administrators, technology directors, system administrators, technology media integrators/coaches, and teachers.

The PA Inspired Leadership Program's STEELS Leadership Course is designed to equip school and system leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the Pennsylvania STEELS standards effectively. This course emphasizes phenomena-based learning, the integration of science, technology, engineering, and environmental education, and effective curriculum design and assessment strategies. Participants will learn to support teachers in enhancing student engagement and conceptual understanding through innovative instructional strategies. Course information will be sent to all registered participants prior to the start of the event. 40 - Act 45 hours will be given when course is completed.

Together, we'll explore practical strategies to transform classrooms into student-centered learning environments that foster agency, engagement, and deeper learning. Through four interactive Wednesday evening sessions (6:30-7:15 PM in February and March), you'll reflect on the reading, exchange ideas with educators across the state, and leave each session inspired to make meaningful shifts in your practice. STEELS Institute 3.0 is designed to strengthen, empower, and energize district teams, providing educators with actionable instructional strategies, targeted tools for enhancing student engagement, and practical approaches to authentically connect classroom learning to real-world contexts. STEELS Institute 3.0 Strategic Focus: Classroom Site Visits: Experience STEELS-aligned instruction firsthand in K-12 classrooms to inform your own implementation. Data-Driven Implementation: Use clear, evidence-based methods to analyze student work and assessment data, guiding instructional decisions, and ensuring lasting improvements in student achievement. Micro-PD Modules: Collaboratively create short, targeted professional learning resources that support teachers across our districts. Integrating Science, Literacy, Social Studies, & Mathematics: Develop instructional strategies to intentionally connect science, literacy, and mathematics to promote deeper student understanding and authentic learning experiences. Cost: District Teams of up to 8 participants-recommended:at least 1 administrator plus elementary, middle, and high school teachers.
