How is enrollment handled?

Students are enrolled through their local school’s online program and cannot be directly enrolled with LLVS. View our list of partner schools to see if your local school entity or Intermediate Unit partners with LLVS.

How many courses can I take?

Local online programs customize the specific number of courses a student can enroll in and designate full and part-time status. View our list of partner schools to see if your local school entity or Intermediate Unit partners with LLVS.

Do you offer summer credit recovery or enrichment options?

What computer skills do students need?

All students must have essential computer skills such as: internet navigation, Microsoft Office/Google Docs, and a valid email account.

Can students earn a High School diploma taking online courses?

Yes, students can earn a diploma if they meet state and local graduation requirements.

Can students with special needs, including English Language Learners be accommodated?

Many students with special needs use online learning because of the flexibility, adaptation, and individualized programs it has available. The school’s certified special-education staff is responsible for collaborating with students, families, and other instructors to develop the student’s IEP, GIEP or 504 Plan and create learning plans that meet student needs. All LLVS courses can be adapted as necessary to assist in meeting student education goals.

Are PA certified teachers provided?

Yes, all online instructional staff are Pennsylvania certified and highly qualified.

What is the expected role of parents/guardians?

Parents/guardians are shown how to guide, motivate, and monitor their student’s progress. Parents/guardians receive log-ins for each student, which gives them access to relevant information for their courses.

Parents/guardians are not required to provide instruction or tutoring but should be available for student support and/or questions.

How are gifted and talented students supported?

Students have the ability to move through the material at an accelerated pace, attempt more challenging coursework, including honors and AP courses. The school’s certified staff is responsible for collaborating with students, families, and other instructors to develop the student’s GIEP and create learning plans that meet student needs. All LLVS courses can be adapted as necessary to assist in meeting student education goals.

Will there be opportunities for synchronous sessions?

Yes, Students can schedule live sessions with teachers in all subject areas and can communicate daily via email.

Will there be opportunities for socialization and extracurricular activities?

Students taking online courses remain enrolled in their local schools, so they are eligible to participate in social and extracurricular activities.
